National Earthquake Information Center

The National Earthquake Informational Center, or NEIC, is part of the U.S. Department of the Interior and the U.S. Geological Survey.  The National Earthquake Informational Center has major offices in California, Colorado, and Virginia, and operates field offices all over the county.  The National Earthquake Information Center operates to quickly discover the size and location of destructive earthquakes all over the world.  Their purpose is to make this information readily and easily available to agencies, scientists, and the masses.  The National Earthquake Information Center maintains a large database and is constantly adding to it, creating a foundation for earthquake research and preparedness.
